Arizona summer doesn’t mess around. Triple digits roll in fast, and for many of our customers, that means it’s time to give their classic a break from the road.
This time of year, is perfect for either preparing your car for storage or finally getting that long-overdue work done while the car’s parked anyway.
Let’s talk about smart summer storage:
- Keep the fuel tank low — not empty, but not full either.
- Start and run the car at least twice a month to keep fluids moving and seals from drying out.
- Use a battery shut-off switch instead of a trickle charger—simple, safe, and it helps avoid electrical gremlins when it’s time to start it again.
- Keep tires inflated properly to avoid flat spots.
- Give it a good clean and cover to protect paint and interior from the sun and dust.
If you’re not driving it, summer is also the perfect time to tackle the work you’ve been putting off. Maybe the brakes have been soft, the A/C needs help (or doesn’t exist yet), or that fuel injection kit you bought months ago is still in the box. Now’s the time to get it in and we’ve got the team to handle it.
Chad’s Progress and Joey’s Growth
If you’ve been in the shop lately, you’ve likely seen Chad—he joined us in April and has been doing a fantastic job ever since. His performance just keeps getting better. Chad came in with a background in modern auto repair, and he’s been learning how we do things here at Acclaim by working closely with Rich. Lately, he’s been especially focused on the electrical side of things—a tough area when it comes to classic vehicles, but one he’s really taking to.
He’s also proving to be a great mentor to Joey, our youngest team member, showing him the ropes and helping him grow into the work. It’s been great to watch that dynamic unfolding and a reminder of why training and mentorship are such a big part of how we operate.
